What's Happening at OIHS

Created by Elizabeth Paniagua, our new College and Career Counselor, this site pulls together important information specific to the needs of our students, about graduation, financial aid, scholarships and more.

This Fall, we opened the OIHS Family Learning Center to offer English and computer classes, a drop-in computer lab and a home language library. We are now able to offer expanded mental health and case management services, additional programs for a “5th Year” of study at OIHS, community gardening opportunities, expanded internship programs, and more.

Thanks to generous support from the ACE Foundation, the San Francisco Foundation, The Zellerbach Family Foundation, The Kaiser Foundation, OTX West, The Fort Fund, the Abundance Foundation,  and Loews for helping us make this expansion dream come true!

OIHS Community Garden & Wellness Program
-->
This year, thanks to generous funding from the Burgundy Foundation and to the hard work of founding OIHS teacher, Liza Richheimer, OIHS launched its very own Community Garden & Wellness Program. Through weekly gardening, cooking, biking and yoga classes, students learn about healthy eating, plant cultivation and environmental stewardship. Come check out OIHS’s new edible forest, with over forty species of edible plants sprucing up our courtyard!

OIHS Partners with Gooru
This summer, OIHS offered its first CAHSEE Math class built around online collections created by Gooru, which is a search engine for teaching and learning. By bringing the best web resources and formative assessments into OIHS' classrooms, Gooru gave the students a fun, new perspective on math and a chance to reflect on what they have learned in class.  Want to see what Gooru has been doing at OIHS (or just brush up on your algebra)? Check out the new search widget on our website to learn more!
