Contribute

Supporting newly arrived immigrant youth and families is now more important than ever. Here are things that you can do in support of our community:

Financial Contributions

Donate to OIHS:

We rely on donations to support innovative programs and provide high-quality, student centered education for our students. To make a tax-deductible, charitable donation to Oakland International, you may send us a check paid to the order of "Oakland Public Education Fund" and put "Oakland International High School" in the memo line. Send the donation to:

Oakland Public Education Fund, PO Box 71005, Oakland, CA 94612. You can make an online donation to the school by clicking here.

Donate to Classrooms:

Consider supporting individual teachers through Adopt A Classroom or Donors Choose. All of your donations will go directly into the classroom to support student learning through hands-on projects.

Support Student Scholarships:

Each year, OIHS offers its "Opening Doors" scholarship to three high achieving, college-bound students in the 12th grade. The more funds we raise, the larger the scholarships. Interested in giving? Follow the instructions above, and include "Opening Doors" scholarship on either your check or online donation form.

Buy an OIHS Sweatshirt:

Our "Migration is Beautiful" sweatshirts make great gifts, and displays solidarity with immigrant communities. All proceeds go to OIHS student scholarships. Purchase yours here.

Contribute to the Viet To Memorial Fund for Outdoor Exploration:

Our students love the opportunity to get outside and into nature, yet it is often prohibitively expensive for us to take field trips to local parks and nature preserves. This fund, established in memory of beloved OIHS alumnus, Viet To, supports student access to the outdoors.

Donate Directly to Students:

We occasionally provide gift cards to students and families in crisis. If you are interested in supporting this effort, please send gift cards to OIHS, attn: Wellness Center, 4521 Webster Street, Oakland, CA 94710. The most helpful gift cards are from Walgreens, Mi Pueblo, Target and Walmart.

Host a Fundraiser:

Interested in hosting a fundraiser among your friends or community? That would be fantastic! Contact us with your questions and ideas.

Contribute Your Time

Volunteer with OIHS:

Interested in giving your time? Check out our volunteer opportunities in partnership with Refugee Transitions.

Help out at the Monthly Food Pantry:

Each month, the amazing Alameda County Food Bank delivers a mobile pantry to our school. We need volunteers to help distribute healthy food to our students and families. Contact us for dates and details.

Ride for a Reason:

Sign up to participate in Ride for a Reason or sponsor a rider. R4R is an annual bike ride from Oakland to Sacramento to advocate for public education. Riders raise essential funds for enrichment programs in 6 Oakland public schools, including OIHS. In 2015, R4R raised over $17,000 for OIHS. R4R will be on Saturday May 14, 2016.

Participate in Career Week:

Each year OIHS offers career week for our students to learn about various career options here in the U.S. Each Spring, professionals will come and share their stories of their career journey. Interested in coming and sharing with a class? Contact us.

Support quarterly volunteer work days:
